You know, no one complains that only people who are good at playing football make the football team/get football scholarships, or that not everyone is capable of becoming a Marine. It's only when it's about smart people that people start complaining that it's "unfair" and "elitist" that those who are more capable have opportunities that the less qualified couldn't benefit from even if they were offered to them.
Stupid people don't like coming up facing the realization that they're stupid, and moderately smart people don't like being faced with the fact that they're not *that* smart, so they come up with scenarios that make them feel better about themselves.
